Celebration against breast cancer
Greece Race for the Cure® is a celebration against breast cancer, focused on prevention, life, and moving forward despite challenges.
It takes place every year in Greece, aiming to raise public awareness, empower people living with the disease, and fund programs that improve breast cancer patients’ lives.
Our story
SINCE 1982
Race for the Cure®
Race for the Cure® is the world’s largest event dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer.
In 1982, Nancy Brinker launched this global initiative following a promise she made to her sister.
Shortly before her passing, Nancy promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to help find a cure for breast cancer.
Since its beginning in Dallas, Texas, Race for the Cure® has grown into a leading global awareness event, now held in 150 cities and attracting more than one million participants worldwide.
In Europe, Race for the Cure® events are organized with the approval of Think Pink Europe®.
SINCE 2009
Greece Race for the Cure®
With the goal of raising awareness and providing information about breast cancer in Greece, the Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer “Alma Zois” has been organizing the symbolic race and walk Greece Race for the Cure® since 2009.
Today, Greece Race for the Cure® is the second largest Race for the Cure® event in Europe and the largest sporting event with a social cause in Greece.
Each year, women, men, and children come together to stand against breast cancer by taking part in this large, meaningful celebration.
